I’m here in Universal City, Texas. Finally resting at the hotel, cruising the web with their complimentary (but unsecure) wifi connection. I almost got lost on the way to the hotel from San Antonio airport. Got cleared with no hitches back at Detroit, MI customs.

First impressions of UC:
Cold (because of the weather). Hospitably nice people. No one’s giving me crap yet. Wide open roads with minor potholes. Nice drivers also. I wasn’t given the finger on the way to the hotel. I’ll be watching for it though, with the way I drive.

First thing I did when I got to the hotel: I turned on my notebook and went online. Yes, I know. Loser. Now I gotta do some unpacking.

…and I’m still in front of a computer, blogging. Makes me wanna yell LOSER at myself. Well, anyway, I’m off to go to Universal City in Texas by way of Detroit. There. I said it. I’m going to UC. Alone. Feels like I’m in the Amazing Race, competing against myself. Hoo boy! Hope nothing goes wrong. Amen.

It’s less than 12 hours before I need to go to the airport and catch my flight. I’m pretty anxious right now about this trip. I asked somebody to answer some of the questions going through my mind but there are still no answers. I’m getting this feeling that it’s postponed. Or they expect me to survive without any money when I get to my destination. I’ll be left alone to fend for myself, walking a harsh desert, begging for food or water or anything so that I can survive. And that’s my queue to stop acting like a drama queen. As everybody else would say, “Carpe Diem!”

I was just pondering these questions that suddenly just popped into my head while I was trying not to fall asleep while eating. Senseless questions, actually, like, if you enrolled for a training course of a specific skill, then you enrolled for another training course for another skill, would you be considered someone who is having intercourse? And if intercourse would be considered putting something inside someone, would taking something out of someone be called extercourse? It’s pretty useless to answer these questions for they are, indeed, stupid.

…and Fridays. Mondays, because Friday is still four more days off. And Fridays, because it’s just only two more days till Monday. The most perfect day of the week is Wednesday, because Friday is just two more days and Monday is four more days.

Yahoo’s Open Content Alliance and Google Print seems to be promising and would be considered popular resources for online books. However, this effort of indexing and digitizing books and made freely downloadable online has already been spearheaded a long time ago and has indexed and digitized 16,000 public domain books. It’s called Project Gutenberg. It has been doing what Google and Yahoo aims to do for a long time already. The only problem is that they are not as famous as the other two search engines mentioned. So the Project may be facing a problem. A popularity, and maybe financial, problem. So will they sink or swim? Well, everything sinks in the end. It’s just a matter of time. I just hope they sink gracefully.

I finally have a phone again, courtesy of Globe’s Family Values Promo. I was able to get a new phone by signing up for another line. Good thing is that my Chings needed a post-paid plan which made me decide to sign up for the promo. The only bad thing about this is that I forfeited my five thousand peso reward which I can use for my bill (spread over 12 months), as G-Cash or cash (which I can have on a quarterly basis), or for a handset discount (which I only have one phone to choose from). It’s worth it anyway, as long as it is for my Chings.

I’m also using my same phone number. So it’s really convenient for me. The only problem is that I lost some of my contacts’ numbers. I only have those which I saved on my PDA, which is, sad to say, not updated. Oh well, if they need me, they know my number.

I friggin’ lost my mobile phone recently. It’s not because somebody took it away from me. It’s because I was careless. I didn’t check my pockets when I got out of the cab coz I was hurrying to get to my Chings. I was also tired from being up since 4 AM and got out of the office around 4:30 PM or so. Well, however I take a look at it, I still lost my phone. I only realized it was missing when I was about to set my alarm for the next day. So what happened was that I was late for work the following morning because I wasn’t able to wake up in time to get to the office. This is the second time I lost my phone. The third time that I had to buy a new phone. First, it fell out of my pockets while commuting. The second time I had to buy a new phone, it was because someone robbed the bus that I was riding for work. So, yeah. I was one of the passengers they robbed. And now this. Well anyway, at least there’s one less bill to pay.
