Following the “release” of ShutterView, I’ve decided to release also the theme that I’m currently using. It is a 3-column theme based loosely on Whitespace by theundersigned.net. It has an integrated Heatmap Tag cloud plugin by engadgeted.net. Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict. NOT widget-friendly. Of course, I had to remove some of the items in the sidebar that uses plugins that I can not integrate. Well, all of the plugins will be integrated in the next release. This is one of the things I was planning to do to make a mark in the blogosphere. At first, I designed my website from scratch. No database, no PHP. Just plain ol’ notepad scripting and some CSS. Then Carlo introduced me to WordPress and I’m hooked. I can manage my posts and pages, etc. more efficiently. Of course, I also wanted to display my favorite pictures. I tested out some photo gallery software and I soon realized how much a pain it is to integrate the gallery with the theme I’m using. The closest I came to integrating my photo gallery with my theme is with the PhotoPress plugin. That’s when I started learning PHP and MySQL and CSS standards. I’ve also searched the web for a photoblog theme for WordPress but I can’t find any. Well, at least, none that suited my taste. That’s how I came up with ShutterView.

I haven’t tweaked my WP core files. I didn’t edit any of those found in my “wp-admin” folder, but I got this error when I posted an Aside.

And it seems to be working now after reloading the browser. Hmmm…

“Page cannot be displayed”

Or at least something else with the same effect. That’s what I encountered upon upgrading to IE7. Hardly a faster browser compared to IE6. Tons of invulnerabilities, or “easter eggs” as Microsoft likes to call it. What took the cake was the worm that infected my hard drive. When I double-click on it, it does nothing. Out of habit, I right-click on it and the default action highlighted on the context menu is “Autoplay.” How the heck did Autoplay become one of the hard drive options?! Upon further research, I finally found the culprit. There was an autorun.inf in my hard drive and a file named “FS6519.dll.vbs” which is actually the worm. Anyone who experiences this would have to boot into Safe Mode, delete the files, and then hack the registry. Details in removing the worm can be found here. By the way, it propagates by copying itself to an external hard drive, in which I have two that are already infected.

I think. I’m referring to WordPress 2.1 and as I was preparing the write-up for a theme I’m currently developing, I decided to check out the release archives of WordPress. What I saw there surprised me. There is a 2.0.8 version of WordPress. I’m currently running on 2.0.7, and 2.1 is still too soon for me. What caught me off-guard was that there were no announcements from WordPress about 2.0.8. Not even in the Dashboard of my Administration Panel.

What I want to know is, is this an emergency release? Are there any new features or bugfixes that would prevent any vulnerable insecurities in 2.0.7? Do I have to upgrade to 2.0.8? No word yet from the developers as of this writing though. I’ve searched the codex and the forums but there seems to be an absence of posts or comments about 2.0.8.

About the theme mentioned above, it’s currently tested to work properly with 2.0.7. If 2.0.8 is released and there are major differences, the theme will be obsolete since it requires a plugin that has known compatibility issues with Ella. I sure hope 2.0.8 doesn’t have any security fixes or I’m going to have to re-modify the plugin again.

Wife imposes “No Blog, No Sex” Rule.

That is why. Well, at least for Marc. I’d like to impose this rule also to my wife, but it will have no effect, since I can’t use Sex to blackmail her. And I think I’m gonna get in trouble just by thinking about it. Or even writing about it here.

Anyway, Marc’s post about the “blogging for sex” thing would, I think, be the number one motivator for people to blog. Well, at least for the male bloggers. So how do you motivate your female counterpart to blog?
