A traveler’s passing
The phone suddenly rings. Quickly, he answers it.
"Yep?"
"He's gone."
"Oh."
"Mom called around midnight and told Pop about it."
"Okay."
"I have to go now. Talk to you later."
"Okay."
Wow. Nothing like a death in the family to start your day. I didn't really talk to my uncle that much, but I'd like to say something to him, nonetheless.
To my uncle,
I was supposed to be named after you. I don't know why my parents didn't. I guess, to prevent confusion when they're yelling at me. You always made sense, and gave your wisdom to a lot of people, including me. You will always be someone I look up to. I just wished we had more time so you can meet my son. You would've liked him.
Truthfully, I don't know if I'll believe that there is heaven or hell, but I'm sure you're somewhere nicer. I - We - will miss you.
Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine,
et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Requiescant in pace. Amen.
