Blog Traffic Exchange Site

Why join? At first, my sole purpose of joining such a website is to make people take a look at my website, thinking that something I created can be recognized and appreciated. This is because I know nothing about SEO or something like it. All I know is, my content has to be rich in keywords and search terms, like porn, sex, barbra streisand, taylor hicks, etc. That's the only thing I know about SEO. That's why I joined Blog Traffic Exhange Sites. Sites like Blogmad, BlogAdvance, BlogExplosion, etc. They helped drive traffic to my site. In exchange, I browse other blogs. Everytime I browse a blog listed in the BTE site, I get someone to take a look at my site. For 25 seconds. The more blogs or sites I browse, the more surfers get a chance to take a look at my site. For 25 seconds. But my site loads in about 30 or more seconds. So by the time my site is done loading, the 25 seconds is up and the surfer has gone on to another site, waiting for the 25 seconds to expire to move on to the next site. A cow's opinion. It's a moo point. Sure I can make my site load faster, but at what expense? No more scripts, graphics, and whatnots? Like it can function without those things. So instead of redesigning my site, I think I'd rather NOT join a BTE site. Besides, all I read about in other blogs are about politics, the weather, somebody's dog, football practice, whatever. Most of the blogs have even started promoting animosity by making a day of the week a FOAD day. What the heck were they thinking? Sure there are other noteworthy blogs, but compare those few with the million other blogs who have nothing better to do than share their misery. Sure, misery loves company. But please, knock on someone else's door. I'm miserable enough on my own, thank you very much. I really don't care about other blogs in general. It's really up to the owners what they want to put on their sites. Yes, it is everyone's right to whine and complain and place blame on somebody else besides themselves. My question is, are you just gonna sit there and do nothing, or are you gonna do something about it so that you won't have to experience it again? Stop complaining and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Me? I will not be joining a BTE site again. This may be the last entry you'll see while browsing Blogmad, or BlogAdvance, or whatever. Live and let live.

I understand exactly how you're feeling. I'm not sure what I have to do to get quality traffic, but BTE's are not always the best way. I enjoy reading other blogs and I find that BTE's are a good source of finding other blogs to read, but beyond that it's a very unuseful tool for traffic.

I recently wrote a post about this very same thing, though my points are somewhat different. Just thought I'd drop you a note and let you know that you're not, by any stretch of the imagination, alone in this one.

PS. Ironically,. I found you while surfing blogs on Blogmad.

Thanks for the kind words, KristynMarie. Thanks for also letting me know that I'm not the only one with this point of view.

I just wanted to let BTEs make a filter for quality blogs, I guess. I hate animosity. But by saying this, I am discriminating others already, which leads to promoting animosity also.

How vicious a cycle it is.

P.S. A point for BlogMad, says the ump. The irony.

Ironically this is a blogmad hit.

I would suspect that most of the Blog exchange hits are *empty* hits.

I also suspect that on one major blog exchange that the people who battle all day do so at the expense of surfing - others I think pay for hits .......

Having said that I have found some brilliant blogs and made soem good friends.

Good for you, Nicola. And thanks for dropping by. I'm assuming you also ran into my site thru a BTE.

Thanks again. :)

I definitely agree with you about the absence of decent blogs in BTE sites...

Although I have found some blogs that are good and I'm still reading them.
I guess you have to sift through the crap to find what you're looking for.

I wish we can do that without making us feel that we are flies.

Thanks for dropping by, Butter. :)

What I find drives most of the real "quality" traffic to my site (readers, commenters) are the links I get back from other blog sites. Like yours, for instance. :) Thanks for linking me, Will.

I have found it difficult to get good, quality traffic to my site as well. The traffic exchange sites help a little, but it doesn't seem to be the best way to get readers coming back, and lots of times they don't actually read the blog; they just want to get their credits up so they can get more traffic. But, I did come across your site through Blogmad, like many of the others. I try to comment on at least some of the blogs I read through traffic exchange sites. I love comments, and a good way to get some is to give some. I don't know what some people are thinking either in what they choose to write about, but I do really enjoy some blogs. Best of luck to you in getting traffic to your blog.

Noelle,
Thanks for dropping by. I believe I ran into your blog through Ade. It was well worth the visit every time. I believe the least I can do, besides commenting on your entries, is to link to your blog. Call it a gesture of goodwill. After all, quality blogs deserve to be linked to. Linked with. Ebbeh.

Lori,
Thanks for dropping by. I also believe that if you leave comments, you will get comments. Unfortunately, I don\'t leave as many comments as much as I would like. And I don\'t read as many blogs as I can. However, those who cared to comment would be included in my links list. That\'s the least I can do for those who stayed for more than 25 seconds. Again, thanks.

I'd rather get quality visitors than "drive-by" visitors who will never visit again. ;)
