Effin’ Friday
I went on leave from Monday to Wednesday, went back to work on Thursday and it's Friday already. It's another weekend of hoping to get by till the next payday, which I won't tell for security reasons. Bleh!
More bills to pay, more engagements to attend to and more events to prepare for. When will it ever end? I guess, sooner or later, it will when I'm six feet under. Hope it's later than sooner. I still have some things to work out and some promises to keep. Whoever said promises are made to be broken is full of crap. Maybe that person is just so full of themselves that they forget what's really important in life, and that they'd rather take care of themselves and not give a damn about others. Or they just wanted to say something stupid like that.
Anyway, I've changed, yet again, my site so that it shows just five of my most recent posts and about five for my asides. Makes my blog easier to load since it only has to display fewer items. I think.
I'm also about to finish reading "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman. It's a long overdue book for me to finish since I started reading it last November. It's a really good book. One of the best I've read so far. It made me want to read "Neverwhere," which I can't find anywhere else. Maybe I'll try the specialty bookshop somewhere in Makati. I'm already familiar with the author's work and found it fascinating, how he mixes fantasy with reality, or his own version of reality, which makes up his fiction in its entirety. Cool? Abso-effin-lutely.
Tomorrow, by the way, is the 31st time I'll be be celebrating the day I was born. How do I celebrate it? With lots of beer, and among friends. But this time, it's a little bit different because I share the same date with my soon-to-be mother-in-law. I'll probably end up gaining a few pounds with all the eating and drinking that's about to take place. Hopefully, I have enough moolah to cover all my expenses this weekend. Hence, the eager wait for the next payday. Which results to more bills payment, et al.
Well, if I ever get to finish the book before the weekend is over, I would then have to start reading "Digital Fortress" by Dan Brown. I recently finished my third Dan Brown book, "Deception Point" and I can't wait to start this one. Before, I was into Michael Crichton. But when all of his books were made into films, I kinda lost interest. I think it's maybe that I thought of Crichton letting his work be botched into a film as selling out. As for Dan Brown, I guess I can say he's the new Michael Crichton. At least for me.
And then there's "Knife of Dreams" by Robert Jordan. The twelfth installment of the "Wheel of Time" saga. I already read books one to eleven and as I see it, there's no reason for me to stop reading it, although I'm starting to lose interest in it. However, I've heard of good reviews from friends who have read it already, and I must say, I am intrigued and my psyche is piqued. My friend also said it's going to be the second to the last book in the saga. I guess I just want it to end already so I can have my closure.
After all these books and all the changes of my site, what will be next? Who knows.
Maybe I'll dabble in writing.
Again.
