Eleksyon 2007: An Aftermath of Sorts

So far, we have a former newscaster, some congressmen, a few reelectionists, a cry-baby, a criminal, a mutineer, and obscure personalities that make up the current magic 12. The government's own Team Unity didn't fare well with the opposition, which maybe reflects the current voice of the people clamoring for change. However, who in their right mind would elect a friggin' mutineer?! And how the f*** does a criminal be elected?! Only in the Philippines, as one of my friends would say. People wanting change is very different from people who knows, or at least recognizes, a good leader. To them politicians, all of us are cows awaiting for the trip to the slaughterhouse. Screws waiting to be screwed. Corn being prepared for the big boil. The Game of Houses is always played. Houses always thinking of ways how to screw the working man in the hopes of getting more of what they think have, but really don't: Power. This only makes me miss Ferdie. The people knows who had power and who wanted more of it. BUT, he is the only one who does it. Now, a lot of people want that power and there are too many of them making their moves to grab some of it, no one will be able to identify all of them anymore. Now it all rests on the local government to satisfy whatever their public wants. People are not asking anything anymore from the government. They know the government won't be able to help them with their problems. They look upon their mayors and his crew to provide whatever they need or want because they pay taxes. Fred Lim has been elected Mayor again. He was a former senator and was asked why he ran for a local government position when he had the chance to become a senator again. He replied simply, "Ambagal sa senado. Walang aksyon. (It's slow in the senate. There is no action.)" Here's something I want to tell my mayor, and thank God, he won. *Inhale* I want my taxes to NOT cause traffic when I want to go home, in which I am referring to the monstrosity that is called Baywalk, and that everywhere anyone needs to go should be just 10 minutes away from where anyone lives. I want my taxes to NOT make me become stranded on the road because of a flash flood due to a sudden downpour. I want my taxes to NOT harass me whenever I enter a govenrment facility. If the government can't provide all of these, then GIVE ME BACK MY TAXES! But it's okay if those I mentioned above were not fulfilled. I know that there will be less crime and drug trafficking in the streets of Manila now that he's back. As long as he doesn't embarass himself. *Exhale*
