Status Report: July 07
Some of you might know (but never really cares), but I think I also have to make an official announcement here in my blog that I left MyJournal Philippines last month. (Is that applause from the subscribers I hear?) The reason I gave in my email to the subscribers is that work is eating into the so-called illusion I call "free time" that if I continue managing the site, the "free time" I have will no longer be, well, free. If I don't have free time anymore, I won't be able to impair my productivity, watch p**n, worship Maria Ozawa, take two hours in the bathroom to "take a shower," study being L337 to F16|-|7 73|-| 3\/1L and understand J00 spend quality time with my family, create new WordPress themes, play tennis, etc. You know, all the recreational stuff you do on your vacation, like drink yourself to death. Which makes me realize you wait for four days to get to Friday, working your ass off - sometimes to death - and the weekend comes and you do drink yourself to death, and when the weekend's over, you regret you were not able to do anything healthy or productive during the weekend. And then the cycle starts again.
So. What the heck is MyJournal Philippines anyway? Well, it's purpose is to provide people a cheap and easy way to blog. Cheap in the sense that it is free. Easy? Well, it depends on the blogger. But we tried to develop what we had into something we think is very easy to use. Anyway, the bottomline of me leaving MyJournal Philippines is that because it has become a chore. A chore to check out the newly-signed up users and newly-created blogs and find out they are just full of spam or it has content violating copyright laws. And the hosting is also killing my credit card, slowly but surely. And with my partner out on vacation, and no one to help me shoulder the costs and maintain the site, well, it piles up.
If you're still reading this, I thank you. Because I really don't know how many are still interested, or even slightly thinking, of signing up for a MyJournal account. Anyway, the question that nobody's asking lies out there and I think I need to answer it. What's going to happen to MyJournal Philippines? I don't know. But I do know that AJ, of Bakla Ako, May Reklamo? fame, has taken the reins and will be taking care of the financial side of the venture. The technical side, well, it's up to him to find one who will take on the task of answering subscribers emails. Well, not a lot of emails anyway, so it wouldn't be too hard. I would like to recommend Keysi of keysinunez.com, that is if he's not too busy. Or if he knows someone interested to take over the System and Web Administration of the site.
Takers, anyone?
P.S.
AJ has permanently moved from baklaako.myjournal.ph to baklaako.com so if you have him in your blogroll, please update them. Thanks.
