Is it the theme?

Reading one of WLTC's post, I learned that Turk Hit Box is giving away a free custom WordPress theme, designed from scratch. Of course, it is based on something the blogger prefers. To be eligible for a free custom WordPress theme, your site has to have a PR of 4, older than 8 months, more than 50 feed subscribers, and an irremovable footer link to Turk Hit Box. I reviewed what the Turk said in his post about giving away the WordPress theme and why one should try to get one. I agree with his points about having a professional design, and it being a must.
As I have said before, all custom wordpress themes will be designed from scratch using Photoshop and Dreamweaver. Do not underestimate the importance of design. A nice looking wordpress theme with functionality can bring additional visitors and rss subscribers. A Web 2.0 feel is [as] important as the content of a website. Redesigning your blog can have tremendous effects on your traffic & income.
This maybe true, but what does actually drive traffic to your site? Is it the theme or is it the content?

Selling Links and PageRank

SEO gurus should have read already, but just in case you want to be one of them SEO gurus someday and you haven't read of it yet, selling links can harm your PageRank in Google. What is PageRank anyway? It is a patented trademark of Google and is also one of the tools that made Google what it is today. It basically finds out how relevant your site's content are, and based on the need for that content, assigns a rank to your site or page. Or at least, that's how I perceive it. Can I bait anyone into providing a more accurate and precise description of what PageRank does and what it means for SEO? I'll just keep my fingers crossed.
