WP-Theme: ShutterView
This is one of the things I was planning to do to make a mark in the blogosphere. At first, I designed my website from scratch. No database, no PHP. Just plain ol' notepad scripting and some CSS. Then Carlo introduced me to WordPress and I'm hooked. I can manage my posts and pages, etc. more efficiently. Of course, I also wanted to display my favorite pictures. I tested out some photo gallery software and I soon realized how much a pain it is to integrate the gallery with the theme I'm using. The closest I came to integrating my photo gallery with my theme is with the PhotoPress plugin. That's when I started learning PHP and MySQL and CSS standards. I've also searched the web for a photoblog theme for WordPress but I can't find any. Well, at least, none that suited my taste. That's how I came up with ShutterView.
ShutterView is a theme intended for bloggers that want to display a photo gallery alongside their blog entries. It shows a random image beside the posts. The number of posts that appear on the front page is limited to one. However, you can edit the code so that it uses WordPress’s default settings. The posts also don’t wrap the image when the height of the post is longer than the image. The theme is integrated with a modified PhotoPress. Commenting on pictures is still unavailable but will be included in version 2.0.
I've tested this theme in WordPress 2.1.1 and it seems to be working fine. However, it is not yet available for download as it still needs some tweaking with the CSS. A Release Candidate is available for download. You can expect ShutterView 1.0 to be available for download next month. More details in ShutterView's Projects page. A working preview is available here.
